It's crazy haha. Just a few weeks ago I was completely crazed by korean dramas, but now im on a wuxia-mania.
In just six bookout days, Ive finished watching return of the condor heroes (both the HK and China variants), the legendary sibilings (1 and 2), and demi-gods and semi-devils. OK, i skipped certain parts here and there, but i was going to book in already (SCREW THE EARLY BOOK-IN TIMING!!) and i just gotta watch the epic scenes, like yang guo's hand getting chopped off by that stupid guofu.
i even borrowed the "legendary sibilings" novels from dunyang, but my attempts to read it failed, thanks to my lousy chinese foundation and the unfortunate fact that the chinese characters are typed out from up to down.
In the past people seem to be leading less stressful lives than u know, modern people like us. They practically don't have to care about money (ok, it's called tael last time right), cos if you are one of those guys that wander around the entire continent fighting crime u probably can find food anytime u want - wild plants, animals blah blah. All u probably gotta do is learn some martial skills and go around killing bad people, or seeking revenge for ur already dead daddy, no?
Maybe not. Look, all these wuxia novels are simply just fantasies. (U seriously think u can jump 50m into the air, create force fields with just a sleeve, summon energy dragons to fight for u, or meet an over-sized condor that teach u martial arts?). In the past you still gotta work to pay off your crazy taxes or debts, and face problems like inflation etc. You also need to know tons of stuff to be successful, or to do things like passuing exams so u can get into the govt. Think about it, isn't it pretty similar to wad we are going through today?
Difference? No TV, aircon, dota.
In the past you also got a monarchic government whos in charge for your welfare (unlike what we have today, democracy), so this means you sometimes have corrupted retards who got into a certain position thanks to their family tree (e.g. Wanli, who doesn't give a s*it about state affairs, exploit the govt and his people for money, and became so obese that he can barely stand up by himself).
Maybe, just maybe, if u can really get yourself out of all this crap, learn an entire set of undefeatable fighting skills, go around the world fighting crime and the forces of evil (sorry, why am i thinking of powerful girls now), or retreat into somewhere far far away with ur loved ones and spend the rest of your life dere, you probably have nth to worry about and lead a meaningful life u've always wanted.
Sometimes i think about the crap im going through now, and the many many worries i have in life. Money, when i can promote, the impression i give to others, BLAHH BLAHHH BLRRLLAHHHH. Sometimes i think about TV, air-con, and the fact that i still have a father and mother with me who's still alive cos dere's no li muo chou arnd firing poison needles at random people. You gotta admit, if you ever get pricked by a poison needle (that supposedly has no cure a few thousand years ago), u can probably just hop urself to the hospital to get treatment that's probably even sponsored by SAF :P
Maybe i can achieve a balance, the best of both worlds. I don't have to be a super successful person, but at least before i pass away i can say ive lead a meaningful life with no regrets. I would try to think less about the stresses i have in life, and lead my life meaningfully with my loved ones around me.
